Education and Training Model
Computer Engineering is a branch of science that deals with the design and application of computer systems. When it comes to computer systems, a spectrum ranging from the smallest processors to massive database and network servers comes to mind. Personal computers can be shown as a prototype example we encounter most frequently. However, computer systems appear in every sector and application area in our daily lives, from durable consumer goods and industrial equipment to medical devices, mobile phones, automobiles, airplanes, commercial financial systems like ATMs, and smart credit cards. Computer engineers have a broad technical background that is a balanced combination of hardware and software. In fact, hardware and software are two vital inseparable parts of computer systems. Hardware cannot functionally operate without software, and software cannot be used without hardware. Considering cost-performance-function criteria, hardware and software are designed by computer engineers to work towards a common goal. With the education, knowledge, and experience they receive in hardware and software, computer engineers play an indispensable and critical role in the design, installation, operation, maintenance, control, and development of computer-based systems. Considering these facts, the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Computer Engineering Department Undergraduate Program has been established with a solid academic structure by balancing software and hardware, combining computer sciences, mathematics, science, basic engineering necessary for engineering, with the support of humanities and social sciences, economics, business, and other elective courses.
