What is Mechanical Engineering?
Mechanical Engineering is an engineering branch that conducts education, research, and work on the construction, manufacturing, manufacturing planning, assembly, maintenance-repair, and operation of all systems and mechanisms. Those who graduate from the Department of Mechanical Engineering are given the title of "Mechanical Engineer".
Mechanical engineers research, develop, design, and manufacture machines, engines, tools, and other mechanical devices, operate and maintain them. The knowledge and working areas of mechanical engineers are very wide. Many technology areas from heating ventilation systems to robots, from artificial organs to automotive applications, from manufacturing processes to nanotechnology fall within the working area of mechanical engineers. Mechanical engineers who will contribute to R&D, design, manufacturing, and operating processes need to have knowledge and experience in forces, materials, motion, heat and energy, fluids, control areas.
Our Mechanical Engineering Program has been carried out within the Faculty of Engineering-Architecture, which was established within Mehmet Akif Ersoy University and published in the Official Gazette dated July 4, 2011, and numbered 27984 (2nd Repeat). The Department of Mechanical Engineering was opened with the decision taken at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated October 17, 2012.
Our department has been in operation since the 2017-2018 academic year with 41 undergraduate students.
In our department, in addition to the theoretical and practical courses given to students for 8 semesters, we aim to contribute to our country by raising mechanical engineers who have adopted interdisciplinary work, have the ability to research and criticize, are aware of their responsibility, and attach importance to engineering ethics, together with workplace internships that support these courses.
In our department, there are 6 main science branches including Construction and Manufacturing, Mechanics, Machine Theory and Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Energy and Automotive, and four faculty members who have experience abroad and are experts in their fields work in these main science branches.
There are some associate degree programs related to Mechanical Engineering within Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, which provides the opportunity for cooperation in education and laboratory studies with the related programs.
Opportunities for Education Abroad: Our students can go to a European country to study and intern for periods of 3 to 12 months within the framework of the Erasmus program.
Farabi Student Exchange Program: Within the framework of this program, student exchanges can be made with other universities in Turkey for 1 or 2 semesters.
Double Major - Minor (double diploma) programs: It is ensured that students study to receive a bachelor's degree in a second branch at the same time or that students become informed in another branch they are interested in our faculty and receive a certificate of achievement.
Optional English Preparatory Class: Students who prefer our department can attend the Optional English Preparatory Program for one year at our university's School of Foreign Languages. A Certificate of Achievement is given to students who successfully complete this program.
Graduate Tracking and Career Planning Coordination: All our students are given the opportunity to realize their talents by organizing certificate programs in order to gain new equipment, and we support their future by offering each graduate a diploma supplement (International valid English transcript and diploma opportunity). Close relations are established with the business world, and our students who will graduate
