24th PEMKON Meeting Was Held Hosted by Our Department of Landscape Architecture

The 24th PEMKON Meeting was held online on Friday, November 3, 2023, hosted by our university with the participation of 34 department heads and/or representatives. After the Opening and Presentation of the Program by our Faculty's Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture and PEMKON Term President Prof. Dr. Latif Gürkan KAYA and his briefings on the developments after the 23rd PEMKON, TMMOB Chamber of Landscape Architects 15th Term Board Member and IFLA Delegate Prof. Dr. Şükran ŞAHİN shared her impressions of the 59th IFLA World Congress held in Nairobi/Kenya and the preparations for the 60th IFLA World Congress to be held in our country in September 2024; Prof. Dr. Hayriye EŞBAH TUNÇAY continued with her briefings and presentations on the preparations for the III. Landscape Architecture Education-Teaching Workshop. In the second part of the meeting; the evaluation of the basic and sub-specialty areas of expertise, the discussion of landscape architecture education and public needs and ensuring the effectiveness of the landscape architecture profession in the public sector, the evaluation of the inclusion of the formation course as an elective in our departments related to the field of Landscape Architecture teaching, the discussion of the situation regarding the weight of landscape design courses in the education-teaching programs of vocational schools' landscape and ornamental plants programs and the demands for signature authority after graduation, and the improvement or discussion of problems in postgraduate education-teaching continued and ended with the suggestions and evaluations of the department heads who took the floor.
