Education and Training Model
The Industrial Engineering Undergraduate program is Regular Education (first education) and the education plan consists of 240 ECTS. The department, which offers optional preparatory (English) education, has Turkish as the language of instruction. The program meets the First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) qualifications defined in the Overarching Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area (QFEHEA), the Sixth Level (Bachelor's Education) qualifications defined in the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ), and the Sixth Level qualifications defined in the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL). Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Bachelor's Degree (Diploma) in Industrial Engineering. Industrial Engineering is a discipline that analyzes and improves industrial systems to optimize business processes, increase efficiency, and use resources effectively. Industrial engineers play an indispensable and critical role in designing and managing production and service systems, logistics chains, supply chain management, quality control, project management, and business processes with the education, knowledge, and experience they receive. Our students are required to complete a total of 40 working days of internships in production and service systems where Industrial Engineers are present, with 20 working days at the end of the 4th and 6th semesters. These internships help students get closer to the sectors, gain professional experience, and thus adapt more easily to the work environment after graduation. Considering these facts, the Industrial Engineering Department Undergraduate Program at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture has been established with a solid academic structure supported by the necessary mathematics, science, basic engineering for engineering, as well as humanities and social sciences, economics, business, and other elective courses.
Mission of the Industrial Engineering Department:
In today's world where information and communication technologies are rapidly developing, it is of great importance to train individuals who can keep up with these dynamic changes and produce creative solutions. The Industrial Engineering Department of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, established with this awareness, aims to train the future industrial leaders based on modern science and engineering principles.
Our mission is to provide students not only with technical knowledge but also with important skills such as leadership, teamwork, innovation, and sustainability. As Industrial Engineering, our mission is to train graduates who can think project-oriented, are respectful to the environment, open to continuous learning, entrepreneurial, self-confident, and have a sense of social responsibility, in line with the needs of the public and private sectors.

Duration and Content of the Industrial Engineering Department:
The duration of education in the Industrial Engineering department is four years. In the first two years of education, they take basic engineering courses such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and technical drawing. These courses provide basic knowledge to analyze engineering problems. In the following years, they move on to specialized courses related to Industrial Engineering. Examples of these courses include Operations Research, Ergonomics, Work Analysis and Design, Object-Oriented Programming, Enterprise Resource Planning, Production Planning and Control, System Design and Control. The department also offers technical elective courses such as Warehouse and Inventory Management, Total Quality Management, Data Mining, and Artificial Learning, tailored to students' interests. In addition, social elective courses such as Archaeology, Communication Skills, Consumer Behavior, and History of Science are also offered.
International Education Opportunities
Our students can go to study and do internships in a European country for periods ranging from 3 to 12 months within the framework of the Erasmus program.
Graduation Requirements of the Industrial Engineering Department:
To successfully complete the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Education Program, students must pass all the courses available in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS), achieve a minimum weighted grade point average of 2.0 out of 4.00, and successfully complete their internships. For graduation, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and at least a DD grade for each course. Students who complete the program and meet the internship requirements are entitled to receive a bachelor's degree if their GPA is 2.00 or above. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
Professional Profile of Industrial Engineering Graduates:
Graduates of the Industrial Engineering Department can take on various roles in various sectors. It is possible to base the professional profile on the skills and abilities acquired by the graduates. Industrial engineers can generally work in different roles in production facilities, logistics and supply chain management, and quality control processes to improve business processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
