Architecture

The Department of Architecture is a branch of science that contributes to the creation of vital necessities such as spatial fiction, organization, design, production, etc. The main aim of the Department of Architecture, located within the Faculty of Engineering-Architecture at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, is to train professionals and researchers in design who can filter artistic truths about architecture through artistic sensitivity and social awareness. In addition to training dynamic and competent architects who can access information in any environment, think aesthetically, question, carry information forward, and transform information, it is aimed to contribute to making design products at all scales have unique qualities.

The Department of Architecture aims to offer a high-quality program for students to follow and learn the latest technologies and to participate in applied and theoretical research. The profession of architecture includes various sub-study areas, but it is design-oriented. Design is the process of projecting and shaping the physical environment and buildings according to needs, and using the necessary technology, materials, and equipment for construction. Creativity, drawing, and model-making skills play an important role in design. One of the most important is the student's sensitivity to the physical environment, environmental knowledge, and environmental accumulation. In addition to being a project design architect, application on the construction site, academia, professional control, and other building knowledge topics such as construction, material science, restoration, decoration that design supports are also areas where architects can work. Therefore, in addition to the design courses given to students for 8 semesters, it is aimed that they gain the ability to research, comprehend, criticize, interpret, and use in design or in their field in theoretical courses and knowledge areas that feed these courses.  

The main educational and teaching objectives of the program are:

• - To ensure the training of intellectual architects and expert architects who have acquired theory, design, application knowledge and skills, who have a creative, investigative, innovative thinking system, who can establish interdisciplinary cooperation, who can adapt to the dynamics of the age, who carry ethical values, who are competent in theory and practice, who can meet aesthetic, technical, ecological, economic, cultural, historical, social, environmental and similar requirements, who consider the relevant factors to create equivalent environments in national and international standards in education,
• - To train academics who produce knowledge in the basic fields of architecture, who research, who can establish the relationship between theory and practice, who are leaders, examples and have a say on national and international platforms, who carry ethical values.
