Education and Training Model
The Landscape Architecture Department, within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, was established in accordance with the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 24.09.2014.
The Landscape Architecture Bachelor's program is Regular Education (first education) and the education-training plan consists of 240 ECTS. The language of instruction is Turkish. The program meets the First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) qualifications defined in the Overarching Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA), the Sixth Level (Bachelor's Education) qualifications defined in the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ), and the Sixth Level qualifications defined in the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL). Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Bachelor's Degree (Diploma) in Landscape Architecture.
Landscape Architecture is a professional discipline that systematically examines the concepts of planning, design, management, conservation, and rehabilitation of natural, cultural, historical, sociological, and social entities/values, combining art, science, engineering, and technology to deal with area design, planning, management, and restoration.
A Landscape Architect is authorized to produce physical plans for the use of all natural and cultural assets in urban and rural plans at national, regional, and local scales, to solve the urban-rural relationship by designing all open spaces in zoning plans with structural and plant area designs, and to provide all active and passive recreational services on open and green areas according to their formation, professional expertise, and occupation, in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, and directives of the Chamber of Landscape Architects of TMMOB, maintaining their membership status and title by fulfilling their obligations, and working as unrestricted freelancers, public officials, or salaried employees.
Our department started undergraduate education in the 2016-2017 academic year. Education, training, and research activities are carried out with a young, dynamic, hardworking, and knowledgeable academic staff. There are a total of 6 (six) faculty members and 2 (two) research assistants in 3 (three) main branches within our department:

- - Plant Material Main Branch: 1 Prof. Dr., 1 Dr. Lecturer
- - Landscape Design Main Branch: 2 Dr. Lecturers, 1 Res. Asst.
When looking at the postgraduate education opportunities of our department; since 2015, there are 2 (two) master's and 2 (two) doctoral programs in two main branches, one of which is interdisciplinary:

The education-training plan of our department is arranged in a way that aims to ensure the success of our students in their professional lives after graduation and to develop their knowledge accumulation, and it is revised according to the conditions of the day when necessary in accreditation criteria.

In addition to the theoretical and practical courses they take, students are provided with the opportunity to make presentations and modeling studies using computer programs.
Internship
Landscape Architecture Department students are required to complete a total of 30 working days of compulsory summer internships at the end of their 3rd year in any public institutions and organizations, private sector, or plant production facilities such as nurseries, greenhouses, etc. There are various opportunities for students who will do internships abroad with programs like ERASMUS.
Graduate Employment Areas
Landscape architects provide services in a wide perspective from the development of large-scale landscape plans, preparation of management plans, preparation of national park plans, design of city squares and parks, urban and suburban open green areas, building gardens, mass housing environments, parks, children's playgrounds, sports complexes, conservation areas (national parks, biotopes, etc.), restoration of problematic areas (mines, landfill sites, etc.), preparation of landscape restoration plans, contributing to ecosystem evaluation reports, reassessment of natural sites, recreation areas, botanical gardens, to the arrangement of touristic and historical areas.
Landscape architects operate on a global scale with a broad vision. In recent years, the impact of landscape architects on important global issues such as climate change, the creation of sustainable societies, water, housing policies, and the fight against hunger has been increasing.
Graduate Profile
The skills and equipment we aim to provide to our graduates who complete their undergraduate education:
1. Having sufficient infrastructure regarding the basic principles and tools of landscape architecture
2. Having basic knowledge about the natural elements that make up the landscape to interpret, protect, use, and manage natural and cultural environments.
3. Having the knowledge to use and interpret science, art, and technology in the fields of landscape planning, landscape design, landscape restoration, and maintenance in line with the principle of sustainability.
4. Having the necessary knowledge about the structural and plant materials used in landscape architecture and being able to apply them
5. Applying the knowledge gained in landscape design and maintenance works.
6. Evaluating and interpreting data related to natural and cultural landscapes, identifying existing problems, analyzing, and developing ecology-based planning, arrangement, development, and protection methods and techniques for problems.
7. Developing and using creativity potential.
8. Expressing thoughts through drawing, graphics, and models.
9. Thinking three-dimensionally in landscape design works and showing analytical thinking skills.
10. Conducting design works in accordance with ecological, economic, aesthetic, and functional criteria.
11. Transferring theoretical knowledge to landscape design works and producing and applying landscape projects with different purposes using appropriate structural and plant materials
12. Effectively using necessary information technologies in landscape design and landscape planning works.
13. Producing different solutions to problems.

15. Recognizing plant material, using it for aesthetic, functional, and ecological purposes, and maintaining it.
Student Clubs
Student clubs operating at our university organize activities that contribute to the social and personal development of our students. Additionally, our department students can also become members of the TMMOB Chamber of Landscape Architects Student Club (PMO-Young) and participate in the activities of the relevant chamber.

Program Accreditations
Work is ongoing for the accreditation of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in our department.
Dormitory and Accommodation Facilities
Within our university, accommodation services are provided to our students by the Credit Dormitories Institution Directorate. There are 2 girls' and 2 boys' dormitories as general dormitories. There are a total of 7 blocks, including 1 high-standard girls' dormitory, 1 high-standard boys' dormitory, and 1 block where female students are accommodated within the central campus. Additionally, there are 2 social facilities to serve our students in the dormitories. The dormitories serve a total of 2210 students, including 1283 girls and 927 boys. In the İstiklal Campus, the construction of a 500-person dormitory by the Credit Dormitories Institution and a 1000-person dormitory by private investors is ongoing.
