A technical trip to the ancient city of Sagalassos was organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Architecture, within the scope of the "History of Architecture I" course, with the participation of Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Salih SOSLU from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Archaeology, and Öğr. Gör. Dr. Fatma Şeyma KESKİN from our faculty's Department of Architecture.

The students who participated in the trip had the opportunity to observe the ancient city on-site, gaining information about the historical geography of Sagalassos and its significance in the Pisidia Region. During the course, students had the chance to practically examine the knowledge they learned within the framework of the famous work of the ancient author Vitruvius, Ten Books on Architecture (De Architectura).

The plans, layouts, structural conditions, decorations, and usage forms of the structures in Sagalassos were examined in detail. Additionally, discussions on building materials, craftsmanship, and architectural features questioned the techniques used by ancient architects, engineers, and stonemasons. The change of architectural structures over time was also addressed within the scope of the trip.

Finally, students completed their technical trip by taking their final notes on the historical process of ancient architecture. This activity became an important part of visual learning methods for the students.
