MAKÜ Students Became Champions at the Red Bull Flight Day: Our Faculty's Architecture Department Student Also Took Part in the “Skyby-Doo” Team!

At the Red Bull Flight Day held at Caddebostan Beach in Istanbul, the “Skyby-Doo” team, consisting of students and graduates from Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, became the first in Turkey by standing out among approximately 8 thousand applications.

The Red Bull Flight Day, where creativity, engineering, and stage performance came together, was held for the sixth time in Istanbul after a four-year hiatus, with the participation of hundreds of thousands of people at Caddebostan Beach. In this organization, where handmade unique flying vehicles powered entirely by human strength took off from a giant ramp into the Sea of Marmara, our university's youth achieved great success.

Reaching the Top Among 8 Thousand Applications

The Skyby-Doo team, which was selected among 30 elite teams that made it to the finals from approximately 8 thousand applications made across Turkey; received full marks from both the jury and the audience with their flight distance, creativity in vehicle design, and the costumed stage performance they exhibited before the flight.

As a result of the evaluations of the jury, which included our national athletes Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, Ayhancan Güven, Deniz Öncü, Bahattin Sofuoğlu, and Kübra Dağlı, and the public vote in which 26 thousand votes were cast, the Skyby-Doo team reached the championship by leaving their competitors behind in the overall ranking.
